The Montreal Exchange to Introduce New S&P Canada 60 Index Futures and Options Contracts
The Montreal Exchange will introduce new S&P Canada 60 index futures and options contracts on September 7, 1999. These new contracts, to be offered under an agreement recently signed with Standard & Poor's, will be part of a range of products based on the S&P/TSE 60 index. Other products will also include a long-term options class.

New Quality in Electronic Bond Trading on Xetra®
Deutsche Börse AG has further enhanced the parameters for electronic bond trading on Xetra since July 7, 1999: A new price and fee model reduces the transaction costs considerably. At the same time, a quote machine developed by Deutsche Börse enables the automated supply of buy and sell prices in the order book.

IPE Board Backs "Plan B" And Calls EGM For End Of Month
At a meeting this morning the IPE Board of Directors gave strong backing to the proposals to demutualise and sell 70% of the Exchange to five private investors (Plan B). Members of the IPE will be invited to vote on the future of the Exchange at an Extraordinary General Meeting to be held on Friday 30 July at 12 noon. The Board agreed that if their recommendations were not accepted by the Membership they would regard this as a vote of no confidence.

Allan Aw appointed to the Stock Exchange of Hong Kong Council
Mr Allan Aw, Office Managing Partner of Arthur Andersen Hong Kong, was appointed today (Wednesday) to the Council of the Stock Exchange of Hong Kong. Mr Aw replaces Mr Tim Lewis, who resigned from the Council last month. Mr Aw also replaces Mr Lewis as a member of the Disciplinary Appeals, Finance, Traded Options, and Trading and Settlement Committees of the Council.

ParisBourseSBF SA and Merrill Lynch Pierce Fenner & Smith Inc. have signed an agreement for the joint development of a range of bond-index futures to be traded on the French exchange's electronic system, NSC.
