Invest Malaysia 2024 - China: Regaining Malaysia’s Lead In Asia - Strengthening Economic And Investment Ties Between Malaysia And China In Commemoration Of 50 Years Of Diplomatic Ties
Bursa Malaysia Berhad (“Bursa Malaysia” or the “Exchange”), in collaboration with China International Capital Corporation Limited (“CICC”) and Malayan Banking Berhad (“Maybank”), today concluded the Invest Malaysia 2024 - China. Themed “Regaining Malaysia’s Lead in Asia,” the virtual event was premised on enhancing investment and trade flows between Malaysia and China, by promoting Malaysia as a compelling economic and investment destination to China-based institutional investors and fund managers. The conference was also in commemoration of the 50 years anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two nations.

Start Preparing Now: Early ASIC Guidance On The Mandatory Climate Disclosure Regime - Keynote Speech By ASIC Chair Joe Longo At The Deakin Law School International Sustainability Reporting Forum, 22 April 2024.
KEY POINTS
- As we move to join the ever-growing ranks of jurisdictions with mandatory climate disclosure, entities should start putting into place the systems, processes and governance practices that will be required to meet new climate reporting requirements.
- As with any new regulatory regime, ASIC will take a pragmatic approach to the supervision and enforcement of the regime, and we will develop and issue guidance to help entities meet their new obligations.
- We will also work with the Government and the other Council of Financial Regulators (CFR) agencies on supporting implementation of the regime, including on broader initiatives that will assist entities meet their new obligations.

SGX RegCo Wants Boards To Help Enable Shareholder-Requisitioned Meetings
To improve board-shareholder engagements, Singapore Exchange Regulation (SGX RegCo) is proposing a rule change to require listed issuers to assist shareholders who have requisitioned a general meeting so that the meeting can take place as soon as practicable. Issuers are to commence facilitative efforts within 21 days of deposit of the requisition notice. An issuer who disputes the validity of the requisition notice must apply for a court ruling within the same timeline.

The Securities and Futures Commission (SFC) has commenced proceedings in the Market Misconduct Tribunal (MMT) against Ms Cynthia Chen Si Ying, Mr Wen Lide, Mr Sit Yuk Yin and Ms Choi Ban Yee for suspected insider dealing in the shares of Asiasec Properties Limited (formerly known as Dan Form Holdings Company Limited) (Dan Form).

ASIC: No-Action Position On Financial Reporting Obligations Of Special Purpose Financing Subsidiaries And Their Guarantors
In response to stakeholder feedback, ASIC has adopted a no-action position on the financial reporting obligations of special purpose financing subsidiaries or other wholly-owned subsidiaries that issue debentures to sophisticated or professional investors, and their guarantors, that may have been relying on relief under ASIC Corporations (Wholly-Owned Companies) Instrument 2016/785 (ASIC Instrument 2016/785).
